CHÂTEAU CAPION CELEBRATES ITS ‘REMARKABLE TREE OF FRANCE’ PLAQUE

The Siberian Elm of Château Capion has become the fourth tree in the Hérault region to be classified ‘Remarkable Tree of France’. On Saturday March 28th, the estate at Aniane is celebrating this prestigious classification with screenings, a conference and an exhibition.

On the agenda

11h and 16h: screening of the documentary ‘Remarkable Trees: a heritage to protect’, by Georges Feterman, Jean-Pierre Duval and Caroline Breton (Museo Films). Authors and directors will be present.

14h30: conference: ‘Trees, the latest news’ by Georges Feterman, president of the Association A. R. B. R. E. S; also, a ceremony for the official recognition of the Siberian Elm at Château Capion as a "Remarkable Tree of France".

All day: Seeds and Trees exhibition by Benoit Piquart. The director of the Tourist Office at Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Vallée de l'Hérault presents his private collection of seeds from around the world.

Alex, manager of Ouam and Libeccio (Théâtre des 13 Vents) in Montpellier, will be on site with his pop-up restaurant offering small dishes from 6 € to 12 €.
Tartare Bars, ceviche, octopus, oysters and skewers.
Serving from 11:30 to 16:00. No need to book.

New: the Vinyl Truck will be selling records and playing grooves all day. A fine selection of vinyl records, new and used, imprinted on labels from around the world and installed in a Renault RE 2136 van from 1973.

After a first sell-out event last January, Château Capion is holding its second Oursinade, or Sea Urchin Festival, on Saturday 7th March in Aniane. Oyster-seller Adrien Guillard of Ó Delit des Cieux is back with products from the open sea selected by his family, and from his mother’s shop, Lyne’s Oysters, based in Mèze next to the étang de Thau.

Choose from two menus of shellfish and crustaceans to accompany wines from the estate.
